Israel: Trying To Justify Previous Wars By Beginning New Ones

The following was written by Egyptian writer M. A. Hamama for PoliticalTheatrics.

Imagine that situation: Israel is going to kill some of us. But this is not the dilemma! The dilemma is that we are going to look surprised and confused by this “aggressive” Israeli attitude every time they start a war!

War has four main benefits: First of all, it’s the most efficient way to get vital natural resources. The American and British oil companies will get what worth hundreds of billions of dollars of Iraqi oil. This is beside the $3 billions-worth a year of unaccounted oil due to the destroyed metering system of oil because of war.

The second benefit of war is that it refreshes the economy(of course the economy of the rich people!). This might seems confusing but true. When the cycle of demand and supply – the core component of an economy based on market – is broken, a very efficient way to get out of that is to create new horizons of business away from those broken ones. Also, in the process of reconstruction, a lot of businesses are ready to get a share! We can call it the strategy of deconstruction to reconstruct again! This strategy was efficiently used in the reconstruction of Europe after the Second World War and was the main drive of the economic revival in the forties and fifties and widely known as Marshall Plan.

The third one is that wars help in drainage of the excess wealth controlling its accumulation and preventing them from becoming harmful. Excessive accumulation of wealth gradually reduces its value (Apply the demand-supply law to get it easily, too much wealth
means too much supply. Too low consumption of the wealth equals too low demand. What happens in case of too much supply and too low demand? YES, a broken economy. That’s why excessive wealth should be drained). The war is a great tool to drain this excessive wealth and comes also with other benefits!

The fourth one is the geopolitical one. I am not going to go further into this point but imagine that: by the occupation of Afghanistan by the US, US managed to control an area eastern to Iran, western to China, southern to Russia and northern to India and Pakistan!

This was about war. But, what about Israel? When Napoleon Bonaparte proclaimed for a Jewish state in Palestine, that was for a reason. The main goal was to stab the Ottoman’s empire in it’s heart. Implantation of a culturally-different group of people in this area would help in preventing a strong union between Egypt and Al-Sham(Palestine, Lebanon and Syria). This new group, Napoleon thought, would be the arm of the French empire in the area.

The dream of the French empire soon collapsed and a new empire was on its way: the British empire. Britain took Napoleon’s idea and put it into action. They adopted the Israel dream and supported it with Balfour’s declaration of 1917. After the Second World War, the US took over the political scene and it was obvious that centre of the political power in the world has moved to Washington. For the same objectives, the US continued the unconditional support of Israel. But are the strategic objectives of the imperial project is the only reason that drives the US – and the countries that spin around it! – support Israel unconditionally?

If you need to control a whole nation, you should own four main tools:
money, media, lawmakers and intellects. Well, in the US, Israel owns them all! Israel managed to acquire a great influence on the political decision-making in US. A lot of money is paid in the funding of both congressional and presidential elections campaigns. Israel lobbyists contribute in the process of hiring the Capitol Hills and the White House’s officials and assistants. Media corporations are always function by pro-Israelists on the levels of both moderators and editors. Most newspapers columnists and TV shows producers are pro-Israelists. Thinks tanks researchers and university professors are well-dominated by the Israel defenders. A tight censorship is established upon research procedures. The control of these main political tools allowed Israel to get full support from different American administrations one after the other and made Israel sure that it will get the political and diplomatic American support.

By understanding this, we will finally would be able to understand the rhythms of the Israeli wars and strikes in the last ten years for
example. The second Intifada triggered by the provocative visit of Ariel Sharon to Al-Aqsa mosque (in the time of the presidential
elections of 2000). After 9/11, Israel had a great space to try to break the Palestinians. The assassination of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Dr. Abd El Aziz Al-Rantisi in 2004(a presidential elections year). In the summer of 2006, IDF launched attacks and sweepings in the Lebanese lands then attacks of Gaza(right before the mid-term elections of the Congress). Operation Cast Lead was launched in December 27, 2008(the year of the American presidential elections).

[I am not trying to say that this is the only measure Israel considers when declaring war but it’s a very important one].

By following this rhythm, we can find out that the myth of Israel self-defense and all similar nonsense is just Israel tries to justify being an imperial tool. We can also figure out that a near war is in the horizon but we will not listen to Israel’s justifications again, hope.
