South Lebanon was once again the center of attraction on Monday as President Michel Sleiman started an inspection tour in it, shortly after Lebanese anti-aircraft guns opened fire on four Israeli warplanes which were flying at low altitude over Marjayoun.

“The army’s anti-aircraft guns fired at four enemy Israeli planes that had been overflying the southern area of Marjayoun this morning,” an army spokesman told AFP.

Meanwhile, Sleiman, accompanied by Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji, visited the Spanish contingent in Marjayoun.

The president, afterwards, held a meeting with the command of the eastern sector to discuss the situations in the border areas and the issue of the Ghajar village.

While he declined to give any statement to the press during the visit which lasted for around one hour and was accompanied by tight security measures taken by the Lebanese troops and UNIFIL peacekeepers along the roads and the surroundings of the Spanish base, Sleiman praised the role of the UNIFIL forces in helping the army to maintaining calm in the south.

He also congratulated army soldier for the efforts they spare to safeguard Lebanon’s sovereignty and protect its land. He called on them to remain alert and cautious given the enemy’s schemes and intentions, emphasizing the army’s role in confronting any aggression against Lebanon.

The Lebanese President stressed that Lebanon has, through its army, people and Resistance the right to defend the land against the Israeli threat.

Among other between-the-lines about this event is that the Lebanese anti-aircraft guns didn't shot down any Israeli jets .
If I would be a Lebanese or the Minister of Defence/General , I would find it a shame besides being Extremely worried .

People of Lebanon – please ask the world for donations towards some Russian S-300 anti-aircraft missile batteries, many would willingly give to assure the safety of your children, defend yourselves from these real terrorists.

'Megaphoniz' … that's an excelent idea , but as the Iranians discovered after paying in full , mother Russia has being attacked on two fronts : by the Islamic militants inside its territory plus the pressure from the IMF Israel/Rothschilds , so at the end , until today , Russia will not deliver as promised the S-300s to Iran ( short of a drama like sending something but the ship hits an old Iranian mine and the 'contents' are lost at sea – just to save face ) .
But the bottom line is an even more philosophical one , no member of the nuclear club wants more in and that in its self sets the pace ( of mind and actions ) . Add to it that the new wanna-be member is a Muslim heavy religious country , Iran , and that settles it .

As someone pointed out, Lebanon's only defence is it's armed resistance groups, and mainly Hizbullah, without which the country would probably not exist.
I had the pleasure to spend the 90's in Lebanon, and during those years the army would regularly fire anti-aircraft rounds at the planes. At the time the Lebanese army had orders to fire, but the soldiers had clear orders: If they actually drop a plane, they will be executed.
It's just a horse and pony show.

Finally? Lebanon shot at Israeli jets last week also. Yeah Hezbollah!

All i can say is "Evil will triumph when good people do nothing". All good people must do whatever they can with whatever means available. The shame is not on the lebanese army. The shame belongs to the silent majority who allow these war crimes to take place through ignorance, not realizing that they could be next in the que to be terrorised into mass subservience and meek obedience. Will the human spirit be crushed , or will the collective human conscience spark a spirited revival, God's plan will never fail, who will be part of it, that is the question?
